FAQS

What is a handheld core drill used for in geological studies?

A handheld core drill is used in mineral exploration to extract drill cores from rock outcrops in situ. These cores provide a more accurate representation of the geological formations than surface chip samples, aiding in comprehensive geological mapping.

How do I operate a handheld core drill for outcrop sampling?

To operate a handheld core drill for mineral exploration, secure the drill on the rock surface, ensuring proper alignment. Start the engine, apply steady downward pressure using the push-down frame, and regulate the water flow to optimize cooling and drilling. Use the core recovery kit to safely extract and store the drill core.

What types of rocks can be sampled with a handheld core drill?

A handheld core drill can sample a wide range of rock types encountered in mineral exploration, including sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. Its robust design and customizable drill bits make it adaptable for drilling core samples in various geological environments.

Is the handheld core drill suitable for both soft and hard rock formations?

Yes, the handheld core drill is suitable for both soft and hard rock formations, commonly encountered in mineral exploration. Its powerful engine, adjustable water flow, and tailored core recovery kit ensure efficient sampling of drill cores in diverse geological conditions.

How deep can the handheld core drill penetrate during sampling?

The handheld core drill can penetrate up to 50 cm per run, depending on the rock formation and drill bit used. This depth is typically sufficient for obtaining representative drill cores in most mineral exploration projects.
