Structuring quality in geological sampling activities
At Geofactory, quality is not limited to equipment performance alone. In geological sampling and rock sample preparation activities, reliability also depends on process control, operational traceability, internal coordination, and the ability to maintain high standards over time.
It is within this framework that Geofactory Spain S.L. officially obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification issued by Bureau Veritas Certification. This certification covers the design and manufacture of equipment and consumables for geological sampling and analysis.
ISO 9001:2015 is one of the most widely recognized quality management standards in the industrial sector. It is based on key principles such as continuous improvement, risk management, document control, customer satisfaction, and process standardization.
In geological sampling environments, these elements become particularly important. Core cutting equipment, rock sample preparation systems, sample preservation solutions, and laboratory workflows must operate with high levels of precision and repeatability, often in technically demanding environments.
International projects expose equipment and operations to a wide range of constraints depending on the sector involved: mining, oil & gas, geothermal, geotechnical, CCS applications, oceanographic research involving marine sediment cores, as well as advanced research laboratories. In this context, maintaining consistent quality standards becomes essential to ensure equipment stability, operational reliability, and consistency in the services provided.

Improving precision and strengthening internal coordination
One of the core principles of ISO 9001 is continuous improvement. At Geofactory, this approach applies not only to equipment development but also to the internal organization of the company.
In geological sampling equipment, precision depends on multiple factors including structural rigidity, assembly quality, component stability, and consistency in manufacturing processes. This is also one of the reasons why Geofactory widely prioritizes the use of stainless steel in the manufacturing of its equipment.
Beyond corrosion resistance and durability, stainless steel provides improved long-term structural stability. This rigidity directly contributes to the precision of core cutting operations and the repeatability of rock sample preparation workflows. In applications requiring highly precise preparation, particularly in oil & gas laboratories, oceanographic research projects, or advanced analytical environments, mechanical stability becomes a critical factor.
ISO 9001 has also helped strengthen communication between Geofactory’s different departments. Developing geological sampling equipment involves the collaboration of multiple teams including industrial design, manufacturing, assembly, quality control, logistics, technical support, and customer follow-up.
Structuring communication between these departments significantly improves the circulation of technical information, reduces the risk of errors, and ensures greater consistency between equipment design, manufacturing, and real user requirements.
This organization also improves Geofactory’s responsiveness to specific customer requests, whether related to technical adaptations, workflow validation, technical assistance, or services associated with the equipment.

An international certification supporting long-term reliability
Achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification represents an important milestone in Geofactory’s development. It reflects the company’s commitment to structuring its operations in order to maintain high-quality standards for equipment, consumables, and services related to geological sampling.
In international projects, working with certified suppliers has increasingly become an important requirement. This certification provides independent recognition confirming that quality processes are controlled, documented, and regularly audited.

The certificate issued by Bureau Veritas confirms that Geofactory’s management system complies with ISO 9001:2015 requirements for the “design and manufacture of equipment and consumables for geological sampling and analysis.” The certification remains valid until March 11, 2029.
At Geofactory, this certification is not considered an endpoint, but rather a foundation for continuing to develop reliable, durable, and field-adapted solutions for modern geological sampling.
Because in core cutting instruments, rock sample preparation, and all activities related to geological sampling, quality does not depend solely on equipment performance. It also depends on the organization’s ability to maintain rigorous processes, efficient communication between teams, and continuous improvement throughout every stage of equipment and service development.
